How Does AGAINST THE WAR v2 Differ from Original Version?

AGAINST THE WAR v2 mainly differs from the AGAINST THE WAR original version in addressing issues identified by critic David A. Willson in his 2014 review and in subsequent emails exchanged with the author. The issues addressed relate mostly to the rank difference protocol of character Bill O’Rourke with characters Barbara Carpenter, Ken Forland, and Orin Brown. Also, Carpenter’s initial situation and nurse training are changed to make possible her eventual deployment to Vietnam in January 1969; and slight changes are made in character Xuan Than, the NVA major who lectures Jim Morris.

AGAINST THE WAR v2 also corrects small errors in military details to make the novel completely defensible as a wholly accurate account from a historical standpoint.

AGAINST THE WAR v2 does NOT compress the novel, reduce the amount of information provided, or change the general balance of information and chronicled events.

For a better understanding of the information vs. events balance in AGAINST THE WAR (both in the original version and in v2), refer to “Self-Evaluation (2013)” (specifically, item [3][f]) in General Notes & Resources on this web site.
